Considerations for the Course Enrolment Process of History Department Students
-
Course Enrolment: You should never leave your course enrolment process to the last day. It is recommended that students, especially those who have failed courses from previous semesters, to make their course selection early. Due to the intensity and technical problems that may occur at the last minute, there may be difficulties in your course enrolment.
-
Supervisor Approval is Important: After selecting your courses, do not forget to send them to the supervisor for approval. Course registrations that are not sent for supervisor approval may be invalid. The supervisor's approval is a critical step for the completion of your enrolment process.
-
ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) Requirements: You are required to take 30 ECTS courses each semester. If 30 ECTS is not taken in a semester, that semester will be deemed incomplete. You can check which courses you have been successful in and your ECTS from the relevant sections of your transcripts.
-
First Year Students: The course selection process is easier for first year students. Compulsory courses are equivalent to 30 ECTS in total, so it is enough to consider these compulsory courses when choosing courses.
-
Transcript Check: When choosing courses, you should first check your transcript carefully. Identify the courses you have failed or left incomplete and select these courses. If you have failed an elective course, you can replace it with another elective course, but remember that you must link the new course with the old one. This linking process is performed on the course selection screen.
-
Term ECTS Limit: You can choose a maximum of 42 ECTS of courses in a semester. However, this limit can be exceeded for students in the graduation stage and the conditions related to this will be announced separately.
-
Course Overlaps: If the hours of a course you have taken below and a new course you want to choose overlap, you should give priority to the course you have taken below. Students who have graduation status and have problems for this reason should definitely contact their supervisors.
-
Class Repetition and Success Status: Students who repeat a grade and have a GPA below 1.80 cannot move to the next year. These students can retake the courses they failed and the successful courses they want to improve their grades.
-
Elective Course Linking Process: Students who want to make changes in their Faculty Common Elective and University Elective courses must link the courses they have taken in previous years with the new elective course they will take. Otherwise, they must take responsibility for these two courses. This linking process is done on the course selection screen.
-
Responsibility in the Course Selection Process: It is primarily the responsibility of the student to make correct and complete course selections. Although possible errors are tried to be detected by the relevant department, it is the sole responsibility of the student to make the correct course selection. Make sure that your registration process is completed until the last registration day and check the messages sent to you by your supervisor.
