Mission
The Department of History offers students the opportunity to maximise their intellectual potential through historical knowledge and social sciences. By analysing historical events, societies, currents of thought and cultural developments in depth, the programme enables students to gain a broad perspective on both their own history and world history. In this process, students acquire the skills of research, critical thinking, analysing data and contextualising historical events.
The Department of History aims to teach students to develop an interdisciplinary understanding and to make critical analyses of historical data using different sources. In this context, it is aimed that students not only acquire historical knowledge, but also use this knowledge in line with the needs of society and interpret it in a way that sheds light on today's problems. The department also contributes to the students to conduct their research in accordance with scientific ethics and methodology.

Vision
The vision of the Department of History is to provide students with a comprehensive education in the basics of historiography, source analysis, methodology, interpretation of historical events and historical methodology during the 4-year undergraduate programme. In this process, students gain professional competence in the fields of historical science, archiving, museology and cultural heritage. Students are not only limited to the knowledge of local history, but also have in-depth knowledge about the periods, events and individuals of world history. Graduates of the department have a wide range of employment opportunities in public institutions such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, museums, archives and in the private sector. In particular, they can find the opportunity to work as specialists in cultural management, academic research, historical consultancy, archiving, museology and tourism sectors. In addition, they can work as history teachers in public and private schools by obtaining a pedagogical formation certificate. In addition, students of the Department of History can continue their academic careers with postgraduate programmes such as master's and doctoral degrees and progress towards becoming nationally and internationally recognised scientists. The department provides students with a researcher perspective, directs them to scientific projects and enables them to integrate with the global scientific world. We aim to graduate our students as professionals who have internalised the ethical values and scientific methodology of the discipline of history and aim to contribute to society and the world of science.
